Motor Control & VFD Panels
Motor control and VFD panels built to UL508A. We size the drives, run the thermal and short-circuit calculations, and deliver a panel with a labeled SCCR rating.
Drives generate heat and drives fail short-circuit calculations — those are the two ways motor control panels go wrong after they ship. We calculate enclosure heat rise against your actual ambient and duty cycle, spec cooling or a bigger box when the math says to, and build the SCCR up with a listed combination rather than defaulting to 5kA. Line reactors, drive filters, and braking resistors get specified up front, not bolted on later.
What's typically in one
- VFDs, soft starters, or across-the-line starters sized to motor FLA and duty
- Documented short-circuit current rating using a listed combination
- Thermal calculation with fans, filters, or A/C sized to your ambient
- Line reactors, load reactors, or drive output filters where cable length demands them
- Disconnect, branch protection, overloads, and control power transformer
Who asks us for these
- OEMs shipping machines with multiple driven axes
- Plants replacing aging MCC buckets or standalone starters
- Integrators on pump, fan, conveyor, and mixer packages
Common questions
- What SCCR will my motor control panel carry?
- It depends on the components and the available fault current at your service. We ask for that number during scoping and build the combination to meet it — commonly 65kA or 100kA — then label the panel with the rating you can actually defend to an inspector.
- Do you handle drive cooling and enclosure heat?
- Yes. Every VFD panel gets a heat-rise calculation against your ambient temperature and duty cycle. That drives the enclosure size and whether it needs filtered fans, a heat exchanger, or an A/C unit.
- Can you match our existing drive standard?
- Yes. If your maintenance team stocks spares for a specific drive family, we build to it so your spares stay useful.
